KnapsackWaste Solutions have recently been appointed re-sellers in Ireland for the KNAPSACK System of Waste Collection. KNAPSACK is a innovative system for the collection of EPS Films & Packaging Materials. EPS is commonly known as “Expanded Polystyrene”.
Due to recent EU directives on packaging materials, the KNAPSACK System is designed to make waste recycling and separation much easier and allows for clean collection “at source”. The KNAPSACK system has been in operation since 1995 and is now in operation in over 4,000 sites in the following areas:
Knapzak & Packaging film and EPS Practically every business or shop, warehouse or building site is faced with lots of packaging film after use. More than 600.000 tons of packaging film -representing over 13 million m³ are annualy disposed of by industry, distribution, shops and the building trade in Great Britain. Packaging film represents some 10 to 25% of the industrial waste volume and its recovery for recycling is now legally required, also in your operation. Also EPS packaging parts represent a volume wasteproblem (in Britain 40.000 tons or 6 million m . Clean collection ‘at the source’ is an essential condition for optimal recycling of both films and EPS. Practically all of this film is perfectly recyclable LDPE (shrink hoods or bags) and LLDPE (stretchwrap film), provided it is properly collected. National legislation on packaging and recycling and the European Packaging Directive force industry, trade and the building sector to seperately collect recyclable packaging materials such as plastic film and packaging EPS. Knapsack offers the economic solution for separate collection of these materials. Knapsack – The Concept Knapsack and Knapsackholder are the ideal combination for decentralised and clean collection of packaging film and EPS in a wide variety of industrial- and retailsituations. What is a Knapsack? The Knapsack is a transparant bag, made of recycled LDPE, hung in a Knapsackholder, a sturdy tubular steel frame and can thus be easily filled. For film there are Knapsacks of 200, 300 and 400 litres, for EPS of 1000 and 2500 litres. The Knapsackholder The matching Knapsackholders are available epoxy powdercoated or zincplated, with or without wheels in various models. For specific situations there are double holders, a tableside model for packaging operations or a truckholder for transport and distribution. For building there is a complete programme of zincplated Knapsackholders, also with or without wheels. There also is a containerholder (fitting universally at the edge of 200 or 300 cu.ft. sheds) or a scaffoldholder (with universal 48 mm clamp) for 400 litre Knapsacks. Collection of packaging film and EPS in the Knapsack prevents unnecessary contamination, functions efficiently and offers savings on transportation and processing cost of mixed waste in many situations.
